Hey guys, it’s Luke! Last June, right after we got back from our honeymoon, we decided we wanted to change some of the major focuses of our business. One of the ways we decided to do this was through SEO. If you haven’t started learning about SEO yet, I promise that it will be worth it for you to learn everything you can about that. Fair warning… I promise you that it won’t be easy! Learning SEO is like learning a different language, so if you’re into that kind of thing then feel free to check it out! 😉 One of the best ways to boost your SEO is through reviews. I’m sure you guys have heard a lot about the importance of having reviews for your business, and it’s all true. We have done a lot of research on this, and we are continuing to value reviews even more as our business grows. Reviews do two things for us… and I’m going to explain both for you.
Reviews build trust.
Let’s talk about how reviews do both. First, reviews build trust, because potential clients read them. Unless a client knows you personally, they will find ways to get to know you on their own. For example, I am an avid review shopper. Whenever I’m on Amazon, I find myself judging a product by how many stars it has. Why? Because I trust that 2,768 people probably wouldn’t steer me wrong. I also am hesitant when a product has very few reviews, even if all the reviews are positive.
What this means to us as a wedding photography business is that if we wanted our clients to feel like they could trust us before they even met us, we needed to value reviews from both our current and our past clients. That was one of the best ways to build an early foundation of trust with new clients. Remember… in your business, getting reviews are important in helping a client trust you before you can build that relationship with them. Don’t skip this first step!
Reviews boost your SEO.
Guys, having reviews is awesome for search engines. Asking for and receiving good reviews on multiple sites not only gets your business’ name on multiple sites, but it also gives more chances for new clients to find you. Think of SEO as a spiderweb: each new web page that your site is on is a new point on that web. The more points you have, the bigger the web, which means the more chances you have to get clients coming through your door. Don’t be afraid to ask your clients for reviews on multiple places online.
We hope this helps as you start to gather those reviews! If you have a question about asking for reviews, we’d love to answer that for you in the comments below!
