Sometimes, God just completely blows us away with His faithfulness and the way He works in our lives when we don’t even realize it. Before Luke and I were even engaged, I booked a wedding for a precious couple named Katie and Andrew, and immediately, I was so drawn to these two as people. They struck me as some of the most down to earth, kind, and genuinely loving people I’d ever gotten to work with, and they couldn’t help but talk about Jesus and the way that He had impacted their lives and relationship from day one. I loved that whenever we talked about their wedding, they talked about the way they wanted God to be honored in their engagement and on that sweet day.
It turned out that we scheduled their engagement session for the week I moved out, and that shoot was also the very first engagement shoot Luke ever came with me to. As I’m sure you can guess, that shoot was Katie and Andrew’s engagement session, and we had such a blast getting to know these guys throughout that evening out at Lake Bloomington, where Katie and Andrew had gotten engaged. In November, Illinois experienced what can only be described as a freak snowstorm on November 21st, so Luke and I packed snow boots and umbrellas and big coats and headed to Katie and Andrew’s wedding day! You guys, it’s like these two didn’t even know it was snowing… all they cared about the entire day was that they were becoming husband and wife. Katie and Andrew were unbelievably calm, no matter what happened… even when the power went out at the church and these guys had to get married in the dark. Their candlelit ceremony will forever be one of our favorite ceremonies of all time, because everything else was stripped away and all we and their guests could focus on was the Lord and the new marriage that was being created in front of us. It was beautiful, and we won’t ever forget this day!
Fast forward to today, and we’ve been in a small group with these guys for just over a year… and they are EXPECTING! How cool is life?! Katie and Andrew are anxiously awaiting the arrival of their sweet little boy this summer, and we got to celebrate that with a little shoot on Wednesday night. There’s not much better than getting to walk with your couples through so many seasons of life, and we’re so thankful hat we’ve not only gotten to do that with Katie and Andrew, but that we can also call these guys dear friends, too.
Katie and Andrew, the Lord definitely knew what He was doing when He allowed our paths to cross! We’re so thankful that we’ve gotten to be a part of your family as it started and as it is growing now. We love that we get to do life with you guys and we are SO excited to meet your little guy so soon! Enjoy a little sneak peek of your photos… we hope you love them!
