It’s finally time to share one of our favorite posts of the ENTIRE year with you all- get ready!! 🙂 If you are new around here, welcome to the blog! We are Caitlin & Luke- Bloomington, IL Wedding Photographers, and every year, we share a recap of our wedding and shoot season right here on the blog in a two part series: Best of Couples and Best of Weddings! Today, we’re sharing our yearly Best of Weddings blog post, and we couldn’t be more excited! As per usual, this post is PACKED with so many of our favorite images from this season, and we’re so grateful as we look back on all the amazing couples we got to work with in 2020!
Let’s just start by stating the total obvious: 2020 was a heck of a year to get married! No 2020 bride signed up for what this year held, that is for sure… and yet we can honestly say that each of our brides handled this weird year with so much grace, patience, organization, and joy- and it was an honor to get to watch each of our brides pivot and plan their wedding day during a global pandemic! What I tell everyone that I loved most about this year was the fact that no two brides handled anything the same way- and that is amazing! Every couple made the decision that was ultimately best for them, their families, their bridal party and guests, and it was so rewarding to get to work with each couple personally to help them create a unique plan for their unique wedding day. Our couples got creative, pivoted, and did what it took to be sure their wedding day was as close as possible to what they’d dreamed of since they got engaged!
So to each of our precious 2020 couples who changed plans {then changed them again… and again ;)}, switched dates, changed venues, cut their guest lists, and ran into every other 2020 bride issue that planning a wedding during a pandemic held, know that we think you are all AMAZING! You sacrificed so much, you worked like crazy to pull off the day of your dreams, and it was so worth it. We think you are all total rockstars for pulling off your 2020 celebrations- and no matter what your wedding day looked like, it was such an honor for us to get to be a part of it!
One last note I have to add to this post is a major thank you to our couples for thinking of their vendors when making decisions about the safety of their weddings! Knowing that our and other vendors’ safety mattered to our couples was one of the most meaningful gestures a bride could make in 2020, and we just wanted to say a BIG thank you to our couples for caring as much about their vendors as they did themselves, their bridal parties, families and guests!
And to the sweet 2020 couples of ours who switched their wedding date to 2021 instead, know how excited we are to see you next year! We missed each of you desperately in 2020, but we know that your 2021 celebration is going to be so very special. We cannot wait, and I’ve been thinking of each of you as I put together this 2020 recap post!
Here’s to the most unique wedding season we’ve EVER had the honor of getting to shoot! We crammed all these wedding days into late June through late November, and although weddings looked different this year, they were still each SO special and so beautiful. No masks, social distancing, hand sanitizer, or any other 2020 hallmark can take the beauty away from the start of a new marriage, and as hard as it was, we’re grateful for a year that reminded all of us what truly matters most on a wedding day is the marriage that’s being founded. 2020 was the most raw, beautiful reminder of that truth!
So to all our 2020 couples, THANK YOU for being amazing! We love each of you dearly, and it was our honor and joy to get to serve you during such a unique year. Xoxo!!!
