If you guys have been following us for any length of time, you know that I (Caitlin!) still cry at every wedding we shoot, even after photographing almost 100 weddings! Hashtag Enneagram type 2 over here, folks! 😉 I have so many favorite parts of wedding days, but hands down, one of my very favorite moments of wedding days ALWAYS ends up being the bridesmaid first look!
There’s just something so special about the first moment our brides’ best friends, sisters, and family see them as a BRIDE! It gets me every time… and I’m not the only one, because there are plenty of happy tears every time we photograph one of these!! Such a sweet moment.
Today, we wanted to share with you guys why we think you should plan for this sweet moment with your bridesmaids! Let’s dive in!
01. BRIDESMAID FIRST LOOKS PRIORITIZE PRECIOUS MOMENTS DURING A BUSY TIME ON WEDDING DAYS
Let’s start with the obvious, shall we? This is clearly such a sweet moment, and it results in the sweetest photos! Making time for a bridesmaid first look also shows your bridesmaids that you care about them and making them feel like they are an important part of your wedding day. It’s so special to see your best friend with tears in her eyes when she sees YOU as a bride for the first time ever! These are moments you can’t get back, but it’s totally okay to plan for intentionally curating those moments. Likewise, a bridesmaid first looks slows everyone down for a moment to just enjoy what’s happening and realize how important this day is. You get to put aside the hustle and craziness of the wedding morning and just be in the moment with your favorite ladies. So special!
02. BRIDESMAID FIRST LOOKS DON’T TAKE LONG
One common misconception about bridesmaid first looks is that they take a long time to coordinate! This misconception often prevents people from doing one, which is so, so sad! In reality, bridesmaid first looks take only about five minutes from start to finish, friends! We are more than used to coordinating them, and it doesn’t have to be a long, drawn out time by any means! In our opinion, five minutes of your wedding day is MORE than worth the sweet photos that will result… hands down.
03. BRIDESMAID FIRST LOOKS CAN BE DONE EVEN IF YOUR BRIDESMAIDS WERE WITH YOU WHEN YOU BOUGHT YOUR DRESS
Another common misconception about bridesmaid first looks is that you can only do one if none of your bridesmaids have seen your dress! This is totally not the case. It is still special and your bridesmaids will still react super sweetly even if they happened to see your dress a few months ago! Trust us- the way you look as a bride for the very first time, on your actual wedding day, is what makes these so special! Don’t let the fact that one or all of your bridesmaids have seen your dress hold you back from doing one at all.
