One thing I was SO excited for once Luke and I got married in June was all of the firsts we’d get to experience together in our first year of marriage! Everything from our first vacation together, our first home together, and of course, our first holidays together as a married couple! Y’all… I’ve been so excited for our first official holiday season as a married couple. Everything about it made me all happy inside just thinking about it… especially getting to decorate our little home! That has for sure been one of my favorite parts so far.
This past week, we got to celebrate our first married Thanksgiving, and it was WONDERFUL. Luke was a little under the weather last week, which was no fun at all and broke my heart, but we still were able to really enjoy our first married Thanksgiving with our family! We wanted to share our favorite moments and highlights from our fun extended weekend off with you guys today.
- We were with Luke’s family for Thanksgiving Day, which was SO fun! I come from a smaller family than Luke does, so it’s been different to get used to a lot of people around on the holidays versus just a few of us. The girls cooked all day Thanksgiving morning with the parade on in the background and our adorable niece Cora distracting us from making yummy food, but I did get to watch the Macy’s Parade for a few minutes. I have always LOVED that part of Thanksgiving! It just doesn’t feel like Thanksgiving without it on!
- I made something for Thanksgiving that I KNOW I’ll be making again! I love sharing recipes with y’all on our blog because I know there are a lot of newly engaged and newlywed girls who read our blog, and if you’re anything like me you’re always hunting for new and creative recipes to try! On a whim, Luke’s sweet mom and I found a recipe for the cinnamon butter you’d find at Texas Roadhouse, and you guys… I’m telling you that you have to try it! HERE is the link to the recipe we used! (I also have more recipes over on my Pinterest right here!)
- After a few days with Luke’s family, we drove back to spend a few days with mine! We’re so blessed to BOTH have family that we adore and are close to, and our families even get to hang out together sometimes too! (It’s the most fun!) My dad turned 50 on Saturday, and we totally surprised him with a party on Saturday night! ????
- The rest of the weekend, we really relaxed… time at church, lots of cooking and eating yummy food (homemade applesauce is in the crockpot as I type this!), a basketball game at Illinois State, and of course some Small Business Saturday shopping over the weekend were all some of the highlights for us! PLUS, a lot of couples get engaged around Thanksgiving, and we’re hearing from so many sweet newly-engaged brides! Y’all, our #caitlinandlukebride family is growing like CRAZY for 2017 and 2018 and we’re so excited!
- While we’re on the topic of our family of couples growing, I wanted to let you all know that we’re booking up so fast for 2017 and even into 2018 now! SO! If you’ve bee waiting to inquire, now is seriously the time. Turning down brides because we’re booked is the worst ever, and we book super far in advance! ☺️
What was the best part about your Thanksgiving?! We would absolutely love to hear all about it in the comments below! XOXO!
