Our First Married Christmas | A Recap

December 26, 2016

Hi y’all! We don’t have a huge blog post planned today as we are taking the day (mostly!) off to spend time with family and each other… BUT, I did want to share a little about our very first married Christmas with you guys today!

Between shooting a wedding and traveling to see both sides of our family, we were definitely a little tired come Sunday night! At the same time, though, we’re filled up from all of the good things and sweet memories of the weekend, and I wanted to share a few of our favorite parts below! ????

  • Friday’s wedding was nothing short of a dream come true! Heather and Shea’s wedding was unbelievably gorgeous… does it get much more perfect than saying “I do” in front of a floor to ceiling fireplace decorated with Christmas trees, surrounded by the people who love you most?! More from that wedding will hit the blog this week, so be on the lookout!
  • Saturday, we woke up early to spend the day with Luke’s family! They have the (delicious) tradition of making crepes on Christmas weekend, which is TOTALLY a tradition I can get behind ???? We opened gifts, ate a lot of yummy food, made sushi, played games and went to a candlelit Christmas Eve service. It was such a special day, and I’m so incredibly grateful to have married into such a wonderful family!
  • On Sunday morning, we woke up early again and headed to my family’s! Our traditions involve a whole lot of my mom’s homemade pumpkin bread and coffee cake, and of course, Christmas-flavored coffee. We opened stockings (one of my favorite parts of Christmas!), opened more gifts, and cooked a lot! BUT, just 5 minutes after we’d put the mid-afternoon meal in the oven, we lost power for the whole rest of the day! We ended up all driving to Luke and I’s favorite Chinese food restaurant, so everything worked out alright! We spent the rest of the night eating dessert and playing tons of games… we had to teach my family how to play Fishbowl!!

I seriously can’t believe that we are MARRIED this Christmas! It’s been so sweet, so special and so memorable. We hope you guys had just as special of a Christmas weekend, and we would LOVE to hear about your favorite moments in the comments below!

Xoxo,
Caitlin and Luke
