What a week we’ve had so far! On Sunday, we got to go to church before taking it easy at home and recovering from a super busy weekend. Then we headed off to two shoots, one of which you’ll get to see on the blog tomorrow!! This weekend was just so full of photographing friends, which I love. It’s remarkably special to get to photograph people I’ve known for SO many years during such a sweet, special season of their lives!
On Saturday, I had the total privilege of being my friend Emilee’s matron of honor. I’ve known Emilee ever since I was a little girl… our parents have been friends for years, and I literally can remember playing baby dolls with Emilee and her sisters when we were super young! We have always gone through similar seasons of life around the same time… even including dating, being engaged, and getting married! We were engaged for a few months at the same time, and we got to be each other’s maid and matron of honor in June and now in October. How special is that?! ????
I still remember when Emilee called me after her first date with Cody last fall. It was so clear from the very beginning that these two and something so special. I loved that they brought in so many meaningful parts of their relationship into their wedding day, too! For example, their first date was at Fusion Brew, an amazing coffee shop on Illinois State University’s campus, so they had Fusion Brew come set up a coffee bar at their reception! It’s details like these that fuels make a wedding day unique and infuse it with so much personality!
I also have to say that Luke did SO MUCH to make this day as smooth as it was! I still was able to shoot for a little while, but this amazing husband of mine covered so many big moments I wasn’t able to.
Emilee and Cody, it was an honor to be your wedding photographers! Thank you for inviting us to celebrate with you… it was amazing to be a part of your day in the ways we were! We hope you have an amazing honeymoon and are so very excited for you guys as you start the journey of marriage together. Congrats, Mr. and Mrs. Monkman!
