5 Things You Didn’t Know About Us

October 17, 2016

Happy Monday y’all! I don’t know about you guys, but to us it feels like this month is just FLYING by! It must be because October is such a busy work month for us… we shoot 5 weddings, lots of engagement sessions and are chatting with SO many brand new 2017 brides, too! Plus, all those new brides means the start of lots of new projects to make their experience working with us EVEN BETTER than it was for our 2016 brides… Luke and I are always talking and dreaming about ways to love and serve our couples better, new things to add to their experience working with us, and how we can push ourselves to be better business owners and photographers! 2017 brides, I cannot wait for you to get your hands on the surprises we have in store for you!!

Today, we wanted to pop in and share FIVE THINGS you may not know about the two of us as a couple and as photographers! We share a lot of our lives with you on social media and our blog, and a lot of us with our clients, since we get to know them all so well! But of course, there are things that you may not know, and we thought it would be fun to share those things today! Here we go!

1. A lot of our significant dates as a couple are also significant dates for our family
For example, our official first date anniversary is also my parents’ first date anniversary! We also got married on my grandparents’ 50th wedding anniversary… it’s so special to share dates with our family!! Speaking of important dates, we’ve been married for four months as of tomorrow… how crazy is that?

2. We have ONE place that has been a big part of our relationship
On our first official date, Luke took me to a spot on a lake… and it was so perfect. We loved that spot so much that we came back a lot to get away from the busyness of life and to enjoy all the seasons, eat meals together and take more photos. It became such a meaningful spot to us, and we even got engaged there! Of course, we had to drive over there on our wedding day for our married portrait time too! (Brides… we LOVE incorporating meaningful places in your photos, whether it’s your engagement session or your wedding day! I love when our couples choose to do this!)

3. We have a pet fish!
I know this is such a random little thing about us, but we have the best little pet fish named Tank! My brother gave him to us back in June! If we talk to him, he’ll swim up to us, and it seems like he’s excited to see us! Either that or we’re just weird pet owners who talk to their fish sometimes, and I’m going to regret including that in this post… ha!

4. We both love to read
#nerds ???? I have always been a bookworm, and we actually both love to read! It’s hard to find time during our busy season to sit down and read, but I already have a stack of books to read in the off season! I’ll be finishing Present over Perfect and The Meaning of Marriage, starting Uninvited (super excited about this one) and purchasing Grace not Perfection and The Magnolia Story!

5. We usually cook together
I’m a huge fan of crockpot meals during our busy months! Luke’s mom, my two sweet sisters in law and I actually made a TON of freezer crockpot meals back in September. They are perfect for us right now since our shoots are usually around dinner time and it would be unrealistic to cook a full meal when we get home at 7:00pm or later! If we do have a night off and want to cook, we love doing that together… Luke’s FAVORITE meal I’ve made is this meatball bake, and my current favorite recipe is this spaghetti squash dish! I post my favorite recipes all the time on Pinterest… feel free to share your current faves with me, too! Luke can’t have gluten, so most of the recipes I pin are either gluten free or paleo, so they’re decently healthy! I love desserts too, and I KNOW I’ll be trying this s’mores snack mix soon!!

That’s us!! This week on the blog, you can expect some fun new content! Just to give you a little peek into this week’s schedule, TWO weddings will be going live, as well as some tips for all you newly engaged ladies! We’re hearing from so many of you, and we’re so excited for you all!! Fall is SUCH a fun time to be engaged and have your engagement photos done, and we want you to have access to the things we’ve learned as wedding photographers! It’s going to be a fun week around here for sure. Have a happy Monday guys!
