Hi guys! We are Caitlin & Luke, Bloomington IL Wedding Photographers! When we delivered Alyssa and Jake’s proposal photos to them the other day, we told them that we believe there are few honors greater than getting to documenting a marriage proposal… and we’ll say that again today! 🙂 Luke and I had the total privilege of getting to document Alyssa and Jake’s surprise proposal just a few days ago, and the entire time we were photographing them, I just could not get over how honored I was to get to be a part of such a pivotal moment in their lives!
Alyssa reached out to us months ago about scheduling some graduation photos, as she was about to graduate from Illinois State University with her masters in social work! We began planning her session long before COVID was even on anyone’s radar, and although we had to reschedule her session once due to COVID, we were so excited to finally make her session happen just a few days ago!
As we were still in the planning stages for Alyssa’s graduation photos, Alyssa’s boyfriend Jake reached out and shared that he was actually planning on proposing during Alyssa’s session- and we immediately got so excited!! We planned a time to chat with Jake on the phone to learn more about his proposal plans, and we also walked through the entire plan on Illinois State’s Quad a few days before the proposal! We knew just from talking to Jake how much he adored Alyssa and how genuinely excited he was to propose- it was so sweet.
On their proposal day, we photographed all of Alyssa’s graduation photos before starting those that included Jake! After a few photos, we taught Alyssa and Jake how to do a pose we use in all our sessions that always gets the sweetest, most genuine reaction: the girl stands with her back to her guy, and her guy walks up and wraps his arms around her!
Except, this time would be different… and Jake never walked up to Alyssa! When she turned around, there he was, down on one knee instead. It was precious, and the plan worked perfectly! Jake had the sweetest speech prepared, Alyssa’s sisters caught the entire moment on video, and it was perfect! Afterward, Jake surprised Alyssa with both their families and they celebrated with champagne and a few extra photos of the two of them. On top of it all, Alyssa’s engagement ring from Bremer Jewelry is a STUNNER- just wait until you see the photos of it up close! Allll the heart eyes. 🙂
Alyssa and Jake, we could not be more honored to have been a part of this special day for you both! Thank you so much for trusting us with this sweet moment that you will remember forever! It’s so crazy that when we met each of you, you were dating… and now, you are engaged to be married!! We cannot wait to watch the rest of your life unfold together!
