How to Communicate With Your Florist

If you guys only KNEW how excited I am that we get to share this post with you today! Oh my stars. I’m so honored to welcome our sweet friend Aly Whalen of AMW Floral Studio to our blog today! I’ve known Aly for a few years, and you guys… she is one of the most genuinely talented, kind-hearted girls I’ve ever met. She owns a business as a florist in our area and she is just plain GIFTED at what she does! (She even did the flowers for our wedding in June and several other weddings we’ve done this year!) We asked Aly to share a few guest posts with our brides and readers this month, and today is the first post!

Help us welcome our friend Aly today! I can’t wait for you guys to read what she has to say! ????

Hello brides! My name is Aly Whalen, and I’m a wedding florist and entrepreneur! Today I want to give you 4 tips on talking with a florist to ensure your wedding flowers exactly what you’ve envisioned. This is great info if you are a fellow flower enthusiast or a new bride trying to find a florist who can bring your vision to life.

1: Share who you are!

Tell your florist about you and your partner, the size of the bridal party, ceremony and reception. This information is so helpful so your florist knows the quantity of bouquets, corsages, altar pieces, and reception arrangements you need.

2. What’s your style?

Having images printed, or access to your Pinterest page, is a great way to visualize your ideas. This way if you do not know the names of flowers or if you like a certain color palette, you can show your florist. It is also great for clarification, or finding flower substitutions that have a similar look.

3. The deets on your celebration!

The florist is going to need to know the date, time and location for your big day so they can guarantee availability, ensure seasonal flower types, and arrange for delivery.

4. Why you are passionate about talking to this floral business?

Do you love the designs you’ve seen of their work, and want to book them? Did a recent bride give you this florist’s information, and you’d like to talk about prices? Or are you just beginning planning and have some questions?

When you meet with a florist be sure to talk about all these points for a great conversation, and to get to know each other. Ask any and all questions you have. This is sure to get you all the answers you are looking for, and lead to working with your dream wedding florist!

Xoxo,
